On November 13, 2011, there was a celebration of women's empowerment at the Rock Creek Corporate Center in Olyphant, PA. The Women Empowered event was put together by empowered women of Northeast Pennsylvania. You can check out their web community at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Women-Empowered/159287470824383.

The event benefited the Women's Resource Center of Lackawanna County (http://www.wrcnepa.org) which helps battered and abused women.

The event featured a variety of businesses owned by women, laugh yoga, health guidance, chair massages, wine tasting, basket raffles, light refreshments and fare, and paraffin hand dips. In addition, entertainment was provided by Amanda and White-Toed Cat , Mollie Edsel, and Jennifer Johnson of the band Cathedra. There was also be a silent art auction featuring 10 original paintings by Scranton artist Veronica Smith. Self defense instruction geared for women was provided by Robert Thomas of the 570 Dojo.

Music by Jenn Johnson; has been playing piano and singing since early childhood. She is the front-woman for the local band, Cathedra. She played a mix of original music and covers that will include Jewel, Tori Amos and LIsa Loeb.
